Cardio training is no longer about how much time you invest on the treadmill or stair climber.  Coaches and trainers are now prescribing movements involving plyometrics, rowing and light weight strength exercises performed at higher speeds and in sets to bring them and their athletes the highest levels of conditioning.  That combination of movements minimizes over fatigue of any one muscle group, allowing the athlete to continue pushing on while maximizing results.
